The Fifth Annual Cypress Cove Gala, A Sparkling Occasion, Saturday evening (March 12) raised tens of thousands of dollars to benefit innovative therapeutic memory care programming at its soon-to-open state-of-the-art facility, The Cottage at Cypress Cove.
Peter Busch, NBC-2 Evening Anchor and gala emcee, announced the fundraising success to a standing room only crowd during Saturday activities held on Cypress Cove’s 48-acre continuing care retirement community. Exact figures have yet to be calculated.
“We’re thrilled with the outpouring of generosity from our gala patrons,” said Cypress Cove Executive Director Michele Wasserlauf. “Funds raised this year will play an important role in our plans to deliver new cutting-edge therapeutic programming concepts to improve the quality of life for residents with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.”
Earlier, Wasserlauf was joined by Cypress Cove Board of Directors Chairman Carl Barraco and Lee FP, Inc. President Doug Dodson in thanking gala goers for their current and past support in making the creation of The Cottage a reality. “We are creating a home, not an institution,” said Dodson, “and delivering the very best in design and program care.”
Cypress Cove’s memory care residence, The Cottage, will feature a unique two-story, four household facility providing a home-like living environment with private suites for 44 residents. A variety of stimulating special cutting-edge programming and several first-time and innovative memory care building features will be introduced when the new facility opens later this summer.
Sapphire Sponsor for this year’s Gala is nationally recognized GMK Interiors of Columbia, SC who has designed The Cottage’s interior featuring personalized home-like settings within each of the facility’s four households.
