Maria Vazquez, a beloved member of the Cypress Cove environmental services team, has dedicated 18 years of her life to ensuring that every resident’s day is a little brighter, their homes a little cozier, and their smiles a little wider.

Growing up in the Bronx in New York City, Maria and her husband were thrilled to move to Fort Myers more than 20 years ago to escape the cold winters. Her journey with Cypress Cove began in November of 2005, and it’s a journey that has taken her through every building on the campus, as well as cross-training in various positions within her department. However, what truly sets Maria apart is her genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of the residents.

“I find my excitement in the interactions with the residents,” Maria shares with a warm smile. “It’s what keeps me going, making sure they are living the best life here at Cypress Cove. It drives me to finish my tasks and put smiles on their faces.”

Maria’s commitment to her tasks goes beyond her official job description. It’s a reflection of her deep-rooted belief that the residents are not just clients but an extended family. When asked about her team, Maria’s eyes light up with pride and affection.

“My team is like a family,” Maria explains. “We’re always ready to help each other efficiently and quickly to get the job done. Family doesn’t leave anybody behind, and that’s what I love about my team.”

Her dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed. Maria’s supervisor, Jennifer Porr, sings her praises, highlighting Maria’s unique connection with the residents and her attention to detail.

“Maria Vazquez has been a team member at Cypress Cove for almost 18 years,” Jennifer says. “She is a great trainer and has not lost her special touch with the residents since day one. She is detailed-oriented and is often requested by the residents to service their homes because they love her work ethic and trustworthiness. She is always on the lookout for what needs to be repaired in their homes.”

Residents like Cathy Pilkington echo Jennifer’s sentiments. Cathy speaks warmly of Maria’s exceptional service, calling her “the best and most accomplished housekeeper” she’s ever had and expressing her gratitude for the privilege of having Maria as part of her life at Cypress Cove.
