Cypress Cove Provides Staff with Fresh Customizable Salads Via Fresh Food Robot at No Charge

Staff at Cypress Cove enjoy custom salads at any hour from Sally, the fresh food robot. Sally works alongside Cypress Cove’s culinary services to provide free healthy meals for employees through robotic technology that assembles made-to-order salad bowls 24/7.

“Sally provides a fun, engaging way for our staff to obtain a fast, fresh, and nutritional meal,” said Joe Velderman, MCP, vice president of innovation. “Sally helps mitigate the spread of illness by providing a touch-free, sanitary experience. This aids in our overall infection prevention efforts to keep staff and residents safe. It also encourages staff to stay on-campus for their meal break, avoiding delays due to lines at restaurants off campus and unpleasant traffic.”

The robotics technology protects ingredients in a sealed container kept under constant, monitored refrigeration. Automatic ingredient expiry notifications are sent to Cypress Cove’s culinary services to help ensure the optimal experience. Sally offers custom salad options from any combination of up to 22 ingredients. Users can interact with instant nutritional details to fine-tune a meal to their unique dietary needs by adding or subtracting ingredients.

In addition to the salad robot, one to two homemade soups are also available daily during certain hours at no charge to employees. Cypress Living and Cypress at Home employees are eligible to enjoy Sally and the soup station whenever they are on the Cypress Cove campus.
