Scholars, donors, and guests gathered for the annual Cypress Vocation and Scholarship Soiree, held at Edison Hall in Cypress Cove. They came to celebrate the Spring and Fall 2025 scholarship and vocational grant recipients. With the theme Rooted in Growth and Connection, the evening was a joyful celebration of the enduring relationships. It also highlighted the life-changing support made possible by the Cypress Scholarship and Vocational Grant programs.

Many attendees met for the first time. They connected over shared stories, laughter, and thoughtful conversation starters provided at each table. A beautifully curated charcuterie spread—thanks to the Cypress culinary team—set the tone for an evening of warmth and gratitude.

“Just like the succulents gifted tonight—resilient, enduring, and full of quiet strength—our scholars grow in ways both seen and unseen,” said Mary Franklin, Vice President of Operations for Cypress Living. “With time, care, and support, they thrive.”

This year, 28 individuals were recognized. Among them, 23 academic scholars and 5 vocational grantees pursued a wide range of careers. These careers ranged from nursing and dentistry to the culinary arts and skilled trades. During the honor cord presentation, each scholar received a symbolic cord. This represented the connection between scholars and their supporters. It was presented by their donor, family member, or Cypress representative.

Since the scholarship program’s inception in late 2017, Cypress Cove has awarded more than $500,000 to support the education and development of team members and their dependents. Scholarships are currently valued at $2,000 per semester. They are paid directly to the scholar’s accredited institution. Eligible students may receive up to $4,000 annually.

To date, Cypress scholars have pursued degrees and certifications in nursing, business, criminal justice, healthcare management, psychology, culinary arts, and beyond. Whether they remain within the Cypress organization or take their talents elsewhere, their education promises to benefit countless others in the years to come.

“Each year, we’re reminded that this program reaches far beyond financial support,” said Melody Desilets, Community Advancement Officer at Cypress Cove. “It’s about the seeds we plant through mentorship, connection, and shared purpose—and the remarkable growth that follows. It transforms potential into something extraordinary.”

Scholarships and vocational grants are made possible thanks to the generosity of Cypress Cove residents, their families, and Cypress team members. This support creates an ecosystem deeply rooted in community, connection, and belief in the power of education.
