Construction of The Cottage Nearing Spring Completion

Officials at Cypress Cove at HealthPark Florida are eyeing a Spring 2016 targeted finish of their memory care facility – The Cottage – and announced recently that it has begun accepting residency reservations.

The Cottage is a multi-million dollar distinctive two-story, four-household community located on the 48-acre campus of this south Fort Myers planned-living community. Construction on the property began in November of 2014 and Cypress Cove Executive Director Michele Wasserlauf reports that work is progressing quickly.

Contractors are currently completing installation of the 45,000 square foot community’s attractive multi-peaked standing seam green metal roof.  Installation of windows and outside doors have neared completion and inside framing, insulation and utility work is actively progressing on both floors of The Cottage.

When open, The Cottage will feature many of the memory care industry’s most unique and visionary lodging components, including innovative programming for those residents with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. Among The Cottage’s unique characteristics is its small house concept with four distinct household clusters, each providing home-like surroundings for eleven residents – including individual rooms with private bathrooms, a kitchen with breakfast bar, dining and living area and much more.

Featured within The Cottage’s interior setting are several concepts fresh and new to Southwest Florida memory care.  Perhaps the most advanced is the industry’s first “Ketra” lighting system: a revolutionary 24-hour lighting that delivers programmed high and low lighting patterns to aid resident stimulation and improve their nighttime sleep.  Other innovative features at The Cottage include a multi-sensory therapy room (called a Snoezelen Room) and a large tropical outdoor garden with interactive water features and low-impact walking paths.

“We’re thrilled with the progress. This has been a long and thoughtful process for creating this facility.  It is wonderful to see The Cottage now taking shape,” Wasserlauf added.
