242 scholarships have been awarded since 2018
FORT MYERS, Fla. (January 16, 2024) Cypress Cove’s scholarship committee has awarded a total of $40,000 in spring 2024 educational scholarships to 20 Cypress team members and team member dependents. The recent scholar selections mark 242 total scholarships awarded since the program’s inception in 2018. Currently, each scholarship is worth $2,000 and is sent directly to the technical school, college or university.
“Cypress Cove’s transformative scholarship program has been a catalyst for positive change among our team members and their families,” stated Drummond Camel, vice president of human resources. “Along with our commitment to tuition assistance and flexible scheduling, we empower Cypress team members to elevate their careers and expertise through a diverse range of educational opportunities.”
This spring’s cohort includes scholars seeking undergraduate degrees and technical diplomas from 10 institutions of higher education throughout Southwest Florida and the state. There are eight new Cypress scholars, 12 returning scholars, two pairs of sisters, and a brother and sister pair. Eight scholars are pursuing associate degrees, 11 are pursuing bachelor’s degrees, and one is attending a technical program. Declared majors include accounting, biological science, business management, nursing, political science, pre-dentistry, and psychology.
Several scholars and parents of scholars work in various departments at Cypress Cove, Cypress at Home, and Cypress Living. Many Cypress scholars stay and grow their career with the Cypress organization, but they are not required to do so. The scholarships are funded through generous donations from Cypress Cove residents, their families, and Cypress team members.
The Cypress organization is delighted to share the introduction of three new named scholarships, an additional endowed scholarship, and the endowment of an existing named scholarship. These scholarships comprise The Donna Miceli Endowment, The Diane Wolfe Endowment, The Penny Stiffler Scholarship, The Milton Family Scholarship and The Richard Edgar Wood Scholarship. The organization now oversees 25 endowed and 11 named scholarship funds, complemented by the Cypress Scholarship General Fund.
