FORT MYERS, Fla. (October 27, 2023) More than 200 residents, family members, and Cypress team members walked at the Cypress Cove campus this morning in their third annual “Walk from Home” event. The fun gathering serves annually as a prelude to the Alzheimer’s Association annual Lee County Walk to End Alzheimer’s, in which Cypress Cove provides sponsorship funds as part of their Cypress Cares outreach.
“The work of the Alzheimer’s Association is important to the Cypress Community,” said Executive Director Mary Franklin. “Spouses, family members, friends and even those affected by Alzheimer’s themselves proudly participate in our Walk from Home. Residents and team members will also participate in the Lee County Walk to End Alzheimer’s later this year, but by hosting a walk on campus, many more of our residents and team members can participate. It’s a beloved tradition now.”
Team members from Cypress at Home, Cypress Cove and Cypress Living participated in the walk. New this year are the Cypress Cares T-shirts that are now worn by both Cypress Cove residents and Cypress team members when participating in community outreach projects. Recent endeavors include volunteering at Harry Chapin Food Bank and participating in a roadside cleanup along Lover’s Key for Keep Lee County Beautiful.
