Cypress Cove, a life plan community, proudly celebrated 82 dedicated residents on February 17, 2025 (President’s Day) for their remarkable commitment to service. Together, these volunteers contributed an astounding 25,011 hours to enriching their community—demonstrating the true power of giving back.
As part of the esteemed President’s Volunteer Service Award program—administered by AmeriCorps in partnership with Points of Light—Cypress Cove recognizes those who go above and beyond in their volunteer efforts. This prestigious honor is awarded at three levels:
Gold Award: 500+ hours of service
Silver Award: 250 to 499 hours
Bronze Award: 100 to 249 hours
This year, Cypress Cove proudly presented 8 Gold, 19 Silver, and 55 Bronze Awards to residents who generously dedicate their time and talents. Each honoree received a personalized certificate, a commemorative pin signifying their level of achievement, and an official letter from the White House.
“2025 marks our fifth year participating in the awards program, and to date, Cypress Cove has recognized 232 outstanding volunteers since becoming a certifying organization in 2021! Giving back is at the heart of our community, and these residents exemplify what it means to serve,” said Carol Sperlak, Community Advancement and Volunteer Coordinator.
At Cypress Cove, volunteerism is a way of life. Residents take on leadership roles in committees, organize engaging activities, and support campus initiatives. Some dedicate their time to the Cypress Scholarship Committee or run the Main Street Market, while others teach ESL classes for team members or deliver packages to neighbors. Creatives inspire through the Creative Arts Studio, book lovers curate the community’s libraries, and skilled hands craft surgical caps for pediatric patients at Golisano Children’s Hospital.
“Our residents bring incredible experience, compassion, and generosity to everything they do,” shared Mary Franklin, Executive Director. “Whether mentoring, leading, or learning something new, they make an extraordinary impact every day.”
Cypress Cove continues to celebrate and support a culture of service, where residents not only enhance their own lives but also uplift those around them—one act of kindness at a time.
