At the same time the call for help went out for Cypress team members in need via the employee disaster fund, Cypress Cove resident Jennifer Felt was working with her financial advisor to determine how to best utilize her first required minimum distribution from her individual retirement account (IRA). She learned that by gifting charitable donations she would be able to bless others while also benefitting from significant tax savings.
Also on her mind was the Sechrist donor challenge. She is familiar with the Sechrist family, specifically Beatrice. “We had many meaningful conversations before she passed,” Jennifer recalled. “When I learned of the match challenge, it was a great motivator.”
Many employees will benefit from Jennifer’s thoughtful gift, which will help them rebuild their lives.
“Just at Cypress Cove alone, I’ve witnessed countless cars ruined by storm surge and heard about employees’ homes being destroyed,” Jennifer explained. “It makes me feel good to help people. We are building a culture of giving here, especially in support of our caring, compassionate and loving employees.”
Jennifer has had many wonderful experiences with Cypress Cove employees over the years, particularly when her husband was in need of a higher level of care. Her positive experiences paved the way for her desire to give back to Cypress Cove, not only through donations, but through volunteer opportunities as well.
Jennifer smiled as she said, “Giving just makes my heart feel good.”
