SFCS Architects, designers of The Cottage at Cypress Cove assisted living memory care facility, have received the national 2017 Award of Merit by the Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments (SAGE) for their outstanding innovative solutions of the four unique and specifically designed dementia households.
The prestigious Award of Merit was one of two given at the national SAGE convention in Las Vegas and recognized The Cottage’s interior and exterior design that addressed the specific physical, social, spiritual and emotional needs required by residents of the Cypress Cove community.

The Roanoke, Va. architectural company worked closely with Cypress Cove at HealthPark Florida’s administrative development team to ensure that The Cottage’s four small-household design provides its 44 residents with extraordinary freedom and all the comforts of home.
Lee FP, Inc. president Doug Dodson, whose company is the management company for the HealthPark property was pleased to hear the award news.

The two-story facility, which opened its doors this past fall, is comprised of numerous unique features, including four elegantly modern country kitchens, spacious and smartly appointed living rooms, private parlors, private apartments with bathrooms and much more. Households are designed around a large tropically designed outdoor sensory and activity courtyard.
Cypress Cove Health Services Director David Gray was equally pleased with news of the award. “Our team spent countless hours designing every square foot of The Cottage to assure that residents would feel like they are living in their home.”
Built with person-centered living in mind, the facility is a significant adjunct to the 48-acre campus featuring (besides The Cottage) independent, assisted living and skilled living/rehabilitative options. “We are proud to learn about the award given to SFCS,” said Cypress Cove Executive Director Michele Wasserlauf. “Their creation provides the most home-like environment possible where the burdens of families and care givers can be eased and the dignity and well-being of residents are met with the highest quality of living.”
