Cypress Cove is fortunate to have a maintenance technician who has been quietly making a significant impact for the past 15 years. Meet Jacob Rodriguez, a meticulous and skilled craftsman who has become a cornerstone of excellence in the Facilities team.
Jacob’s journey with Cypress Cove began in April 2008, marking 15 years of unwavering commitment. Originally from Mexico, Jacob came to the United States in 1991, starting in Dallas, Texas, and eventually making his way to Fort Myers three decades ago. With a background in agriculture in Mexico, he transitioned to the construction field upon his arrival in the U.S.
“Jacob is a silent force behind our team, possessing great talent in carpentry, painting, and drywall,” shares Jennifer Porr, Assistant Director of Facilities. “His commitment to perfection and attention to detail make him one of our most recognized maintenance employees.”
Known for his precision and positive attitude, Jacob tackles each project with determination. He has earned the admiration of Cypress Cove residents and co-workers, receiving countless compliments for his exceptional work and customer service.
“He found out what was causing the problem and then fixed the cause, not just the result,” expresses a resident grateful for Jacob’s door-fixing expertise. From squeaky hinges to rotting jambs, Jacob’s craftsmanship extends beyond repairs; it’s a commitment to ensuring residents’ homes are not just fixed but enhanced.
While Jacob may be quiet, his actions speak volumes. “We get tons of compliments for him every week from the residents,” says Jennifer. Residents commend Jacob not just for his technical skills but for his genuine care and meticulous approach to every task.
Jacob emphasizes the positive work environment at Cypress Cove, highlighting good job security and benefits. “I would tell anybody it’s a good place to work,” he says. Having lived in Fort Myers for a long time with his wife of 26 years, Jacob has found a sense of comfort and community at Cypress Cove.
A hands-on learner, Jacob attributes his expertise to observing and doing. His skills have evolved from his early days as an apprentice to becoming the go-to expert for complex woodworking projects and challenging repairs.
Residents express their gratitude for Jacob’s exceptional work through written compliments and thank-you notes. From door repairs to intricate tasks like hanging paintings and fixing difficult light fixtures, Jacob’s dedication shines through.
“He’s got ideas and is a real problem solver,” says a resident, reflecting the sentiment echoed by many others who have witnessed Jacob’s skillful work.
Jacob is looking forward to traveling with his wife upon retirement and experiencing snow for the first time. In the meantime, he continues to bring joy and excellence to the lives of residents, one meticulous repair at a time. Jacob’s story at Cypress Cove is one of craftsmanship and dedication, leaving an indelible mark on our beautiful community.
