Cypress Cove, a life plan community in Southwest Florida, proudly honored 85 extraordinary resident volunteers on February 18 in similar recognition to the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). This national recognition program administered by AmeriCorps in partnership with Points of Light, acknowledges individuals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to community service – a mission deeply aligned with the culture of Cypress Cove. Although the federal program is currently on hold, our volunteers were celebrated through the newly created Cypress Cares Volunteer Service Award program.

Together, these 85 residents dedicated an impressive 23,498 volunteer hours throughout 2025. They contributed their time, talents and compassion across countless roles that strengthen and uplift the Cypress Cove community.

The PVSA honors volunteers at three achievement tiers based on hours served within a year:
Gold Award: 500+ hours
Silver Award: 250–499 hours
Bronze Award: 100–249 hours

This year, Cypress Cove proudly presented:
11 Gold Awards
19 Silver Awards
55 Bronze Awards

These residents exemplify what it means to serve – giving generously and consistently to enrich the lives of those around them.

Each honoree received an award package including a personalized certificare and a commemorative name badge pin signifying their level of achievement. Additionally, they received recognition from Cypress Living’s President and CEO, Troy Churchill.

Residents at Cypress Cove contribute in meaningful ways that reach every corner of the community. Many serve in leadership roles on committees. Others coordinate engaging resident activities, support campus programs or volunteer on initiatives outside the Cypress Cove campus.

Such efforts include dedication to educational and creative projects- from supporting scholarship programs, to teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, to serving at Feed My Starving Children community packing events, to crafting surgical caps for children at local hospitals. These contributions not only demonstrate skill and generosity, but also reflect a deep commitment to purposeful living.

Cypress Cove continues to cultivate a strong culture of volunteerism. Last year, the community celebrated 82 volunteers, and with this year’s 85 honorees, participation continues to grow.

The spirit of giving at Cypress Cove has become a defining element of the resident experience – one that enriches lives, strengthens connections and inspires others to join in purposeful service.
