The Cottage features 44 private residences located within 4 distinct households. Each household at The Cottage features 11 units, all with their own private bathroom and shower, designed for comfort, safety, and privacy.

Our unique, custom-designed households feature their own kitchens, dining areas, living rooms, and private parlors. Moreover, all of our households are located under one roof, in a safe, secure environment. Our more active residents may travel from household to household to enjoy activities, or just visit with friends.

Each household at The Cottage has residents with varying stages of Dementia and/or Alzheimer’s. The Cottage was specifically designed to accommodate residents who are in early stages of dementia to the final stages of the disease for several reasons: based on the latest research and best practices in Memory Care, differentiating by care level is not recommended for residents diagnosed with cognitive impairments.

If our residents were separated by care level, we would need to move them from unit to unit, and household to household, as they progressed. We understand that The Cottage is more than a Memory Care Facility, it is our residents’ home. Any move or disruption can be traumatic for our residents and thus, we take extraordinary measures to create a calm and relaxing environment, and reduce unnecessary anxiety.

The inclusive monthly fee is $9,750 ($325 per day) and includes assistance with all activities of daily living (ADLs) and medication administration and management by a Licensed Nurse. While every situation is different, there are several reasons why caregivers seek placement for a loved one in a specifically designed Memory Care Facility like The Cottage including:

  • Socialization and/or the ability to engage in activities in a calm, safe, and supportive environment
  • Isolation, embarrassment, depression, and/or anxiety
  • Changing sleep patterns and/or lack of sleep
  • Financial implications of 24/7 home care
  • Caregiver burnout: ”The end of my rope is frayed!”
  • Hospitalization and/or rehab stay
  • Physician and/or healthcare professional recommendation
  • Death of a spouse or caregiver

Whatever the reason, we understand that the decision to seek placement for a loved one in a Memory Care Facility is an incredibly difficult and stressful experience. We strive to provide support not only to the residents entrusted in our care but also the family caregivers who truly become a part of our extended “Cottage Family.”

Ideally, the best time to seek placement for your loved one is when you are under the least amount of pressure, and your loved one can still engage and benefit from their new environment. We strongly recommend that you plan ahead if you are considering placement for a loved one. The following are a few other recommendations:

  • Do your research. Ask for recommendations and/or referrals from professionals in the community, such as your physician, social worker, and/or the local support organizations such as LINK to Dubin and Alzheimer’s Association.
  • Review state surveys available at https://ahca.myflorida.com/ and www.medicare.gov
  • Plan to visit at least 2-3 communities, even if you have a favorite.
  • Schedule a tour in advance and allow plenty of time for questions. We do not mind if you have to cancel, even at the last minute!
  • Determine in advance if it is best to bring your loved one along. This is typically not

recommended when visiting a Memory Care Facility like The Cottage however, every situation is different.

While we operate under both a Standard Assisted Living and Extended Congregate Care (ECC) license at The Cottage, there are times when a resident’s care needs exceed our regulations, including if the resident requires skilled nursing care or short-term rehabilitation services.

We do offer Hospice services at The Cottage which may allow residents who might not otherwise meet the Florida State requirements to remain in our care. Please contact the Healthcare Marketing Specialist for additional details regarding these regulations.
